BYD “Battery-Box” batteries use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) cell technology which is widely recognised as one of the safest battery chemistries. With a local Australian support office, BYD is reportedly even bigger than Tesla, with around 230,000 employees! The BYD batteries can supply continuous power equal to their nominal storage capacity. That is, the B–Box 10.0 can output 10.24kW of power continuously, until flat. Not many batteries can match that output.

BYD offers a few premium batteries for high-voltage situations: The Battery-Box Premium HVS, Premium HVM and the Premium LVL. These models all have pretty much the same features and functions but differ in size – the HVS being the smallest and the LVL being the largest, as seen below.

  • PREMIUM HVS: Composed of 2-5 HVS battery modules – Usable capacity of 5.1 to 12.8 kWh

  • PREMIUM HVM: Composed of 3-8 B-Plus HVM 2.71 battery modules – Usable capacity of 8.3 to 22.1 kWh
